Editorial context
Why this app exists
Quill puts reading, annotations, vocabulary review and contextual AI in one app while allowing users to choose the AI provider.
CurioBeam’s view
Why we like it
It does not force one hosted AI backend: local reading/storage is first-class, iCloud is optional, and AI traffic goes directly to the provider the user selects, including local Ollama on supported desktop setups.
Product fit
Is it a fit?
Good for
- Readers who want EPUB/PDF reading plus contextual explanations and vocabulary tools while retaining control over which AI provider handles selected passages.
Probably not for you if
- People who need every AI feature to remain offline on every platform, a collaborative reading workspace, or a currently verified iPad-native listing.
